Note: 1 PR player per team only.
The following players are allow to compete in Ultimate Singles:
- Never been ranked in any version of the PGRU
- Never been ranked in any version of their region's main Ultimate PR
The following players are allow to compete in Melee Singles:
- Never been ranked in any version of the Melee Top 100
- Never been ranked on a SoCal Melee PR from 2013 and onward
- Must be a SoCal resident
Round Robin Pools
Unlike traditional double elimination bracket where you only get 2 guarantee sets, round robin pools lets you play against everyone in your pool which can be up to 7 sets! That's more than 3 times the amount of guarantee matches compares to double elimination.
Resurrection Ladder
If you don't make it out of your pool, you will have the option to advance into the resurrection ladder! In this event, you will play with more people in your skill level and top 8 will get free entry to SwitchFest!
If you're free you're free
We understand that some players don't feel ready yet and think they'll just lose every match and waste their money. Well, sometimes this is true and you're just free.
Which is why if you don't win a single set at Breakthrough, we will refund your entire venue fee. Cause sometimes if you're free, you're free.
This is only for players who compete. Being DQ for not showing up doesn't count. Also, you must finish your pool. Leaving half way and forfeiting the rest of your matches will also disqualify you from this promotion.
Note: Refund will be done online and not in person.
Carpool Discount
If you have a carpool of 4 or more (who are all competing) and attending this event outside of SoCal, please fill out this from by June 30th so that we can cover half of your gas expenses! Fill out the form here

Rule Set
Tie Breaker will be determined by Smashgg's default rule:
- Total sets won
- Game win %
- Head to Head
In the case that this doesn't solve the tie breaker, a bo1 round robin will be play with the tied players till we have the winner

Food & Drinks Policy
Outside purchased hot food (Burgers, fries, pizza, sandwiches, etc.) will not be allow in the foyer or ballroom area. Bottled drinks, chips, candy bars, etc. purchased from the hotel concessions are allowed. Keep in mind that we will also be providing free water throughout the event.
Refund Policy
Refunds must be requested by June 30th via emailing [email protected].
If you registered for doubles and didn't form a team, you will receive a $5 credit to use towards a future event. An email with instruction will be sent to you regarding it after the event.
