The Arizona State Fair is proud to announce the Arizona Lottery Cash Match Esports Series continues! Track down your best 5 for the LIVE broadcasted, FREE Entry, 100% online Arizona Valorant 5V5 Cup hosted by the Arizona State Fair.

On Friday October 23rd & Saturday October 24th, the Arizona State Fair returns to host an online Valorant 5v5 tournament. Valorant is a 5v5 tactical shooter game to plant or defuse the spike in a one-life-per-round, first to 13 series. More than weapons and ammo, you will choose an agent armed with adaptive, swift, and lethal abilities that create opportunities to let your gunplay shine. The Arizona Valorant 5V5 Cup is a two-day OPEN online tournament with FREE entry with over $3000 in prize pool.

General Info:

To register: 1. Visit Smash.gg to create a new player profile 2. After logged in, search for smash.gg/azstatefair 3. Register for the Arizona Cash Match Esports Series 4. After registering for the series, click on the event “Arizona Valorant 5V5 Cup” to sign up 5. Note: enter your duo partners email address into the invite field for your ‘teammate’ to send a user-friendly invite

Group Stage Qualifiers (Friday @ 4pm) & Playoffs (Saturday @ Noon) are 100% online. After registering and completing your team roster on Smash.gg (smash.gg/azstatefair), matches & start times will be visible from the event landing page the day of the event.

Your team will be randomly assigned to a group of 4-5 other teams, you will play each unique team in your group on Friday (Best of 1 matches); with the top 1 (if 8 groups) or top 2 (if 4 groups) teams from each group moving onto Day 2’s quarterfinals Playoff bracket. (*note: Top 2 per pool if 16 teams registered (4 pools), or Top 1 per pool if 32 teams registered (8pools)).

Please utilize Smash.gg’s bracket/schedule pages along with Arizona State Fair’s discord channel, to be ready for your upcoming matches. Top scoring teams (W/L/D) from each group will move on to a quarters, semi-finals, and grand finals playoffs on Day 2. (Advancing teams will also be seeded to playoffs bracket based on performance from Day 1, which will be visible on Smash.gg after Group Stages complete) This event will be LIVE streamed & commentated @ twitch.tv/azstatefair by @etoh

Teams & Rosters:
  • Each team’s roster must consist of at least 5 players.
  • Each team’s roster will be allowed to have 1 substitute. Once the tournament starts, you cannot replace a player.
  • A substitute player may only be added before the Tournament starts.
  • The substitute player cannot be part of any other team’s roster which is participating or has participated in the same tournament.
  • Match must be played in the following format: 5v5.
Before the Match:
  • All current and future matches are displayed on the Smash.gg/azstatefair match dashboard page.
  • All players must Check-In to the match at smash.gg/azstatefair before the 15min DQ Timer disqualifies the team
  • Participants will utilize the ‘Match Chat’ feature for their upcoming match on Smash.gg’s event dashboard. Once a team ‘checks in’ to their match, they will be able to communicate with and only with their opponents in the Smash.gg upcoming match. Here, they will communicate in-game invites to their opponents. Also, Discord will be available to reach out to opponents who are not responding on Smash.gg match chat.
  • Make sure to communicate inside your specific ‘pool’ on Discord for ease. (Pools will be assigned night before Fridays group stages).
  • Matches must start as scheduled unless said otherwise. Some matches may be asked to delay for casting purposes; please stay active in the Az State Fair Discord for these requests.
  • The team on the “top” of the match in the bracket on smash.gg/azstatefair will be responsible for inviting the opposing team to the custom game inclient. Please add the captain of the opposite team as a friend. Please check the smash.gg/or your discord pool channel for the other players to invite.

Maps + Picks/Bans: 1. Bind 2. Haven 3. Split 4. Ascent (Icebox is banned for this event)

BO1: (Friday Group Stages)

Team 1 (Top of match in smash.gg) bans a map from the map pool. Team 2 (Bottom of match in smash.gg) bans a map from the map pool. Team 1 picks a map from the remaining 2 maps. Team 2 will pick a side (Attackers/Defenders) to start on.

BO3: (Saturday Playoffs)

Team 1 (Top of match in smash.gg) – chooses the first map from the map pool. Team 2 (Bottom of match in smash.gg) – chooses which side they will start on the first map. Team 2 – chooses the second map from the map pool. Team 1 – chooses which side on which they will start on the second map. Team 2 – chooses the third map from the map pool. Team 1 – chooses which side on which they will start on the third map.

Map Picks & Bans may be performed in Lobby Chat

If both teams formally agree to play on another server then you may do so.

During the Match:
  • Matched up teams will complete the BO1 (Groups) or BO3 (Playoffs) in Valorant client to reach a victor
  • If the game was started before writing ready from both sides, the team which did not write ready has the right to call a remake before round 1 of the game starts. (before the countdown in the game of round 1 reaches 0).
  • If any of the players are not connected to the game before the counter reaches 0, the team may call a remake and the game must be remade.
  • If the game started on the wrong map, the game must be remade.
  • If a player disconnects during the game, the game must continue and will not be remade.
After the Match:
  • Both teams must record the score of the BO1 or BO3 in smash.gg/azstatefair
  • Please use the ‘notify a moderator’ feature in your smash.gg match IF there is a scoring dispute to report
  • If a moderator does not respond quickly, please then use the #tournament-support channel in the Az State Fair Discord

Your 2 primary methods of progressing through the tournament are Smash.gg & Discord Smash.gg: Displays the upcoming matches, start times, teams and players therein, opponent communication/invites in Match Chat; and score reporting Az State Fair Discord: Primary avenue for customer service from tournament admins, announcements from organizers, new instructions or changes, and an additional layer of team/ player communication outside of Match Chat in Smash.gg

Disputes:

a. Cheating Any form of cheating by any Participant will not be tolerated. Tampering with or modifying hardware, software, game connectivity or abusing in game glitches to gain an unfair advantage over opponents. This includes, but are not limited to: 1. ESP 2. Radar hacks 3. Wallhacks 4. Speed hacks 5. Aim hacks 6. Hitbox manipulation 7. Teleportation (any kind of teleportation, which is not possible in the game) 8. The usage of a bug/bugs to gain an advantage versus your opponents

To dispute any acts of cheating, the player filing the dispute must capture the act of cheating using the console screen capture function and provide the captured information to tournament officials. Tournament admins will analyze the captured content and decide on an applicable consequence if the captured content results prove that the opposing player was cheating.

Game Outage, Game Reset, Technical Difficulties

In the event that a game in progress experiences technical difficulties, a disconnect from a player or an entire team, a power outage, or any other failure in hardware or software, the following guidelines will be followed to resolve the dispute.

Player(s) Disconnect

If a player disconnects from a match, the match will be paused as quickly as possible in order to preserve the conditions of the match and an attempt will be made to reconnect the player.

Hardware Malfunction

If hardware malfunctions, such as a monitor outage, console outage, or internet outage, similar precautions will be taken as mentioned above.

Lag

If a match experiences lag momentarily, the match will continue as normal. If a player is consistently experiencing lag, they will be given a warning and will be required to reconnect in attempt to reestablish a good connection. If the player continues to experience lag, they will be required to leave the match, and depending on the severity, may not be able to participate in subsequent matches.

c. Harassment

  • Players must be respectful of other Players, Tournament Admins, spectators, and sponsors:
  • Sportsmanship comes first.
  • Yelling, threatening, inciting, swearing, and using inappropriate language will not be tolerated. Esports are to be treated as a professional activity that display the best the sport has to offer.
  • Comments that are based on race, age, sexual orientation, mental or physical health conditions, or that are generally insulting or discriminatory in nature will not be tolerated.
  • Aggressive or violent behavior will not be tolerated.
  • Conflict or aggression with or towards other players will not be tolerated.
  • Any language, gestures, or behaviors that Tournament officials or event staff deem offensive will not be tolerated.
  • Players will receive a warning for displaying any of the mentioned behaviors or actions depending on severity. After receiving 2 warnings, the participant will be removed from the match. A maximum of 3 warnings will be issued. Upon receiving a 3rd warning, the participant will be removed from the tournament. Tournament officials and event staff reserve the right to ban, restrict, or eject players at any time. Tournament officials do reserve the right to immediately disqualify a player or team conditional upon severity.
