All Fighting Game Tournaments listed below are free to enter with your DreamHack Austin Attendee badges/tickets. Please register for each game only if you are planning to compete. We will verify that you have purchased a DreamHack admission ticket before finalizing the brackets for the tournaments.

DreamHack Austin will host Official Console Singles Tournaments for (Please note Brawlhalla tournaments are OFFLINE and players must be physically attending the event to compete):

Schedule (Subject to change)
  • For Reference, Friday June 1st, Saturday June 2nd, Sunday June 3rd
  • (Venue is open 24 hours Friday and Saturday Night for nonstop casual play and practice)
  • Sunday Finals day will conclude by 8 pm
  • All FGC/Smash/Brawlhalla tournaments are bring your own stick, keyboard or controller, we will not have any for rent/to borrow

Brawlhalla (PC)

  • Doubles Pools will begin Friday (June 1st) at 2 pm until finish by 8 pm
  • Singles Pools will begin Saturday (June 2nd) 10 am until 6 pm
  • Semis begin at 6 pm until Top 8 is decided
  • Singles Top 8 will take place on Sunday (June 3rd) at 2 pm

Smash 4 Wii U

  • Doubles begin Friday 2 pm until finish
  • Singles Pools begin Saturday 10 am
  • Semifinals begin Saturday at 2 pm
  • Singles Top 8 Finals Sunday at 10 am

Melee GameCube

  • Doubles Friday 2 pm, finals Friday at 6 pm
  • Singles Pools Saturday 10 am
  • Singles Semifinals at 6 pm until end
  • Singles Top 8 Finals Sunday 5 pm

Street Fighter V (PS4)

  • Singles begin Saturday 10 am

Rules

General Rules (Scroll down for Game Rulesets

Check In/Roll Call You are solely responsible for checking into your pool before the start time. If you are not present when your name is called, you will be either sent to the Losers Bracket OR disqualified at the discretion of the judge. If you are playing in more than one game, please notify the pool judges ASAP so you don’t get inadvertently disqualified.

NOTE: While we will try to do announcements/etc., it is UP TO YOU to keep track of time and know where you’re supposed to be, and when. Plan your lunches, money matches, nap times accordingly. Controllers:

All Dreamhack Austin FGC tournaments are Bring Your Own Controller. Rentals will not be available.

Controllers must be wired to the console.

If using a DS4, for PlayStation 4 or WiiMotes for WiiU it is your responsibility to desync the controller once the match is completed.

Best of 5 Singles Top 32 and Doubles Top 4 for Smash Melee and Smash WiiU

SUPER SMASH BROS MELEE (GameCube)

  • Game Settings: 4 Stock, 8 Minute Time Limit, No Items, Pause Disabled, 2/3 Games
  • Starter stages: Yoshi’s Story, Fountain of Dreams, Final Destination, Battlefield, Dream Land.
  • Counter-pick stages: Pokemon Stadium.
  • Wobbling is legal. Freezing and infinite stalling are not legal.
  • First stage is decided by banning from the Starter Stages in P1-P2-P2-P1 order.
  • Winning player is not locked into the same character for the next match, but has to pick before loser selects character.
  • Following stages decided by winner banning one stage from all stages and then loser choosing.
  • Any matches that are best of five, there are no stage bans.
  • Maximum allowed time between games is 60 seconds. Any player violating this rule will be issued a loss.
  • You may not choose a stage you have already won on unless mutually agreed to.

SUPER SMASH BROS FOR WiiU (WiiU)

  • Game Settings: 2 Stock, 6 Minutes, Custom Moves Off, Items Off, Equipment Off, Handicap Off, Pause Off, Damage Ratio 1.0x, 2/3 Games
  • Allowed Controllers: Nintendo Gamecube controller, Wii U Pro controller (battery removed method with USB), and Wii Remote variation (player MUST remove battery upon completion of set or will be disqualified)
  • Mii Fighters On (1-1-1-1 Default Guest Miis)
  • Amiibo’s are banned.
  • Stages: Battlefield [Dream Land 64], Final Destination [Ω Midgar, Ω Suzaku Castle and Ω Wily Castle], Lylat Cruise, Smashville, Town & City
  • First stage is decided by (Rock Paper Scissors) best of 1. Winner may choose to either strike a stage first or select a port first. Stages are struck in a P1-P2-P2-P1 order.
  • Following stages decided by winner striking one stage from all stages and then loser choosing.
  • Winning player is not locked into the same character for the next match, but has to pick before loser selects character.
  • You may not pick the last stage you have previously won on during the set unless mutually agreed to.
  • You may not play on a stage that is not on the available stages list. This will result in a double disqualification.
  • If a game ends with a self-destruct move, the results screen will determine the winner.
  • Sudden Death with tied percentage/stock will result in a 1 stock/3 minutes playoff match.
  • There will be no loading anything on to the tournament consoles.

STREET FIGHTER V (PlayStation 4)

  • Game Settings: Versus Mode, 99 Seconds, 2/3 Rounds, 2/3 Games, No Handicap
  • The top 8 competitors will play 3/5 Matches.
  • If the players do not agree on a stage within 15 seconds, the match will be random stage select.
  • Kanzuki Beach, Spain and Skies of Honor stages are banned

Tekken 7(PlayStation 4)

  • Game Settings: Versus Mode, 3/5 Rounds, 2/3 Games
  • Stage Select will be random every match unless agreed upon by players to rematch on same stage

POKKEN TOURNAMENT DX (Nintendo Switch)

  • Game Settings: Versus Mode, 2/3 Games
  • Only Pokémon Stadium stage is legal
  • Tournament matches will be played on LAN mode with 2 WiiU’s connected.
  • Players must bring their own Switch Pro Controller or Hori Pokkén Controller.
