ONLINE TOURNAMENT RULES

No Switch Friend Code will be necessary. You will use public Battle Arenas with Passwords.

Guide: https://imgur.com/a/uH7HToD

  • Anyone who does not check-in by the start of the tournament is subject to total disqualification from the event. You check in in the main event overview page. You must also check in for every one of your matches. Anyone who is not present by the time the according check-in and DQ timer has ended on smash.gg, or has been tagged and non-responsive in the Discord is subject to disqualification from said set.
  • If both players have checked in but stage striking/a match has not started 5 minutes after check-in because an opponent does not respond are having connection issues, etc, the player who is holding things up will be DQ'd from the match. You are also responsible for contacting TOs about this, and if you wait longer than 10 minutes to call for a DQ because a player is holding up things, you might be held responsible as well for holding up the bracket. There is no reason to be lenient and wait 20 minutes for players who checked in but are not ready. There is a button to call for a moderator on your set. There is an online TOs role. Use these things.
  • You are allowed to gentleman stages during the stage striking procedure. If smash.gg does not allow you to chose the stage that has been agreed upon due to Stage Clause, chose another stage and play it out according to your gentleman's agreement.
  • Bo3 until Winners/Losers/Grand Finals which are Bo5
RESULTS, DISPUTES, AND LAG
  • The minimum recommended speeds are 5Mbps upload and 15Mbps download, plus a low ping. Please use http://speedtest.net to find your internet connection speed, or use the Switch's built-in connection test and share those results. Although not required, we highly recommend hooking up your Switch with an Ethernet LAN adapter or similar to maintain a stable connection with your router & opponent.
  • A lag test isn’t required before officially starting a set, but it’s HIGHLY recommended that one is done. Both parties should be clear on whether they both want one done or not. This counts as a handwarmer/button-check -- so therefore, players must quit when they're done and then officially start the match. We recommend the lag test being only 30 seconds to prevent too much time being taken up.
  • If you experience a mediocre connection, one that isn't ideal but is playable, you can choose to play it out or ask for a moderator to host the room. You should still report that a person had a mediocre connection. The limit of a mediocre connection and the start of an unplayable one would be around 300ms delay. You can test how that feels with a metronome at at 200bpm or inputting 300ms in this site, in which you press the button in one beat, and the character acts in the next beat. Any worse than that is considered unplayable, even worse if it also has lag spikes.
  • In the case of a dispute regarding the results, both parties should not only have replays to use as evidence, but images of their victory screen. Images have metadata that will tell users the time said images were taken, and that time can be compared to the time stamps in the chat logs. Screencaps are also usual if the conversation is private. This all may sound impractical, but this rule must be here as a reference since it is the best solution. Hopefully, this issue will NEVER actually occur.
  • If you play out a full set with a laggy player and only after the set is complete do you complain about it, you will have accepted the results of the set, and they are final.
  • Only one player per console.
