Otafest Assault 2017
Otafest Assault 2017
06/30/2017 - 07/02/2017Calgary, AB

The fifth installment of the Otafest-hosted regional tournament series is happening this summer!

If registration exceeds expectations, we may have out of province talent flying in to tip the scales in the brackets! (and we'll have free Red Bull)

The line up this year is a Super Smash Bros. focused tournament, featuring both Super Smash Bros. Melee for the Nintendo Gamecube (2001) as well as Super Smash Bros. for the Wii U.

The events will be a 1v1 scenario, with the top player taking home the big cash prize, and 2v2's will be included alongside the main events! Please note, if you register and do not have a partner, your fee will be contributed into the prize pool. Please ensure you have a partner to compete with. There will be no refunds.

*Note: you must apply for a media pass if you are intend to take professional photographs of the event.

The 1v1 event with the most entrants will be granted the opportunity to have the top 8 players play onstage at 9AM Sunday!

=Prize Money=

Otafest has sponsored $2,000 this year as a bonus pot split between the 1v1 events. The 2v2 event prize pool will be funded by player entry.

Melee Singles: guaranteed $1000 prize pool

S4 Singles: guaranteed $1000 prize pool

==NEW== You may now enter the event with only a Saturday pass (purchased at the door at the convention). If you are planning to enter the event using a Saturday pass, please contact the main tournament official via email david.ly@otafest.com. However, to be fair to weekend pass holders, you will not be eligible for the bonus pot if you place within the top 8. You will still be eligible to win money from the pot funded by player entry. If you make the top 8 of the Melee singles bracket on Sunday, you will be required to purchase a pass for that day as well.

Registration may either be done online or on-site at the convention on Friday, June 30th. All registration is to be facilitated via Smash.gg. You must have the Otafest weekend pass in order to be eligible for the bonus prize pool, otherwise you are eligible to win from the player provided pool.

Online registration ends June 19th 2017 at 11:59PM. On-site registration will be happening at the convention on Friday, June 30th in Macleod A3 and A4.

Otafest weekend pass prices are as follows:

  • $40.00 Until Dec 31 [expired]

  • $50.00 Until Mar 15 [expired]

  • $55.00 Until Jun 20 [expired]

  • $60.00 At The Door

For all other tickets and day of pass fees:

If you purchased the weekend pass through a different source and would like to register, please contact the main tournament official via email david.ly@otafest.com with proof of payment and details of your Smash.gg account (including name and alias) in order to facilitate your request. All requests without payment proof will be ignored.

If you plan to enter the event with a Saturday pass instead of a weekend pass, please also contact the main tournament official to be entered into the event.

Entering into the competition costs an additional $10 per event on top of convention entry fees.

For those who pre-bought your tickets (https://otafest.com/tickets) may pick your wristbands earlier! This is ESPECIALLY BENEFICIAL because we have a full day of programming on the first day.

If you purchased your wristband via http://www.otafest.com - please head to the Admissions' Desk to grab your wristband OR your day-of-passes.

For those purchasing through Smash.gg (this page), please head to Macleod A3/A4 and ask for a Smash Tournament Official to check you in at the Competitive Gaming desk in the Gaming Area.
