SKL eSports is proud to announce SKL Smashfest presented by IKS Media and the Saskatoon Blades. The event will be held at SaskTel Center in Saskatoon on January 27, 2018. Smashfest will feature a Super Smash Brothers for Wii U tournament with a $1500 prize pool sponsored by the Saskatoon Blades and Tourism Saskatoon, as well as a Legacy Gaming Room, and many additional features which will be announced at a later date.
SKL eSports and IKS Media partnered up to present the first ever SKL Smashfest. The event brought in 64 competitors from across Alberta and Saskatchewan. Smashfest had 930 live and online viewers, with fans requesting additional events. We are glad to be able to provide what may be Saskatchewan’s biggest eSports event ever.
Just like the last Smashfest, there will be areas for friends/family/other players to watch the tournament as it happens. Our lovely casters will be on hand to broadcast and stream the event. Everyone is welcomed to come watch the event, check out all the cool legacy/old school games (Mario Kart, Halo 2, Super Smash Brothers for the N64 and Super Smash Brothers Melee), as well as the sports games spread out around the arena. We will be having mini tournaments around the arena throughout, so don’t miss out!
The Saskatoon Blades are also hosting a video game theme night on Friday January 26 when they play against the Edmonton Oil Kings! Fans in attendance will have the opportunity to meet and greet with Smashfest contestants and SKL casters/admins! There will be video game vendors on hand promoting new products and a gaming area set up the night of the game so fans can will have a chance to play new and vintage video games.
