Tournament Rules

Global Rules
  • Mid-set Coaching is banned.
  • Mii’s are not legal.
  • Pausing should be turned off. If pause is pressed during a tournament match, whether by accident or on purpose, the opponent can demand that the perpetrating player forfeits their stock.
  • If you use a controller that isn’t a wired GameCube controller, make sure you do not accidentally turn your pro controller on as this can interfere with other matches. Removing the batteries beforehand is a good way to make sure you remain desynced. The TO team will try to have a Wii U at the TO desk. Make sure to sync your pro controller at this Wii U after playing a bracket match! Excessive disruption may lead to disqualification!
  • Always check to make sure you’re using the correct controller settings before a match is played. If a match has to be restarted due to controls, it must be agreed upon by both parties.
  • Any games ending in a time-out are first decided by stock count and then by percentage. Sudden Death is not to be played under any circumstance. If both player have the same amount of stocks and the same amount of percent or die simultaneously, a 1 stock, 3 minute tie-breaker with the same characters and on the same stage will be played.
  • Any action that can prevent the game from continuing (i.e., freezing, disappearing characters, game reset, etc.) will result in a forfeit of that match for the player that initiated the action. You are responsible for knowing your own character, and must be wary about accidentally triggering one of these effects. The Bowser Jr. Clown Car Glitch is an exception to this rule.
  • Bowser Jr. Clown Car Glitch: The glitch is recognizable by teleports and changes in animations and hitboxes on Bowser Jr.'s end. If it happens, players are to restart the match and get as close as possible to the same stocks and percentage as they had when it happened.
  • The TO’s directions need to be followed at ALL times especially during “unusual” or “extreme” situations. Please follow the direction of the staff to make sure we can (try and) resolve the situation that occurred to get the tournament back on track. Being unwilling to comply will result in a potential ban from further tournaments.
