Twitch Rivals: The Hearthstone Gold Rush Challenge
October 17-23 2018Online

Hallow's End is here!

With the return of Hallow’s End and Dual Class Arena, Twitch is excited to present the Hearthstone Gold Rush Challenge, beginning on October 17th! The Challenge invites all Twitch streamers to participate in a race to obtain 5,000 Gold on a new account during Hallow’s End and compete for your share of a $25,000 prize pool.

Here’s how it works:

  • Before the Hallow’s End event begins on October 17th, create a new Hearthstone account to begin the race fresh.

  • You are free to clear your tutorial and get your classes to level 10 off-stream before Hallow's End, but only through Solo Adventure.

  • At 12pm PDT, start your Gold Rush with games in Play mode and Arena—games with friends and within Tavern Brawl will be ineligible.

  • Stream all gameplay related to completing the Challenge on the Twitch profile linked to your smash.gg account. To report on smash.gg, make sure you follow all the rules in our help center article.

  • The first person to reach 5,000 Gold will win the grand prize of $15,000, with $7,000 and $3,000 being granted to the 2nd and 3rd players to complete the Challenge.

If the Challenge is not completed by any players during the tournament, players will be ranked, highest to lowest, based on the amount of Gold currently held at the end of Hallow's End.

If you do not have a Twitch account, signing up is free and easy! We highly recommend you research how to stream on your own through the Twitch subreddit or other available resources online/posted at the bottom.

Registration for the Challenge will stay open throughout the duration of the event.

Frequently Asked Questions (Rules Below)

When does the event start?

The event will begin on Wednesday, October 17th at 12pm PDT.

When does the event end?

The event will end when the first three streamers make it to 5,000 gold. Alternatively, if no one reaches this goal, the event will end on October 31st at 11:59pm Pacific.

How do I manage my challenge runs on smash.gg?

Please follow instructions on how to upload your VODs and score here.

Can I spend real money on packs or arena tickets?

Players are only allowed to purchase an arena entry with in-game Hearthstone gold or a free in-game entry ticket. Any purchase on the registered account with real money is prohibited including, but is not limited to, Hearthstone packs, arena ticket entries, and Twitch rewards.

What if I disconnect halfway or my stream goes down?

You are responsible for your own internet connection. Triple check your settings and test stability before you start. Any partial runs will be reviewed for authenticity, so submitting with chopped up VODs is at your own risk. If it is verified that your disconnect caused a loss, that will unfortunately count as an attempt.

Can I use an account that I already own?

No. You must create a completely new account for this challenge and submit the Battle.net tag when registering to smash.gg.

Can I obtain gold from quests?

Yes, the gold you receive from quests counts towards the race. However, you may not complete any quests with a friend, as playing against a friend on this account will result in disqualification from the event.

I found out about the challenge a few days after it started, can I still participate?

Yes! Registration will be open throughout the entire duration of the event, October 17th to October 31st. It's a race though, so make sure you don't start too late!

Do I have to have an Americas account? What if I decide to switch servers during the challenge?

You may play on whatever server you want, as long as you are playing on the account you submitted to smash.gg. Switching servers is allowed, however your gold is not counted cumulatively. Only the server with the highest amount of gold will count towards your progress.

Can I do play on multiple accounts on the same time?

Each valid submission must show only 1 account being played at a time. Playing multiple servers or multiple accounts simultaneously will invalidate your participation.

I got to 5,000 gold, but I did not stream it. Can I claim the bounty?

Unfortunately, if you did not stream the completion of the challenge in its entirety, you are not eligible to win. However, if you record locally on your computer, you may broadcast the VOD on Twitch. However, you must accept that the run must first be streamed in its entirety before officially claiming the prize.

Can I have a friend on call or next to me?

Absolutely. It can be any sort of team effort, but we will credit it to the official owner (by email account) of the stream.

What third party software is currently allowed to be used during the event?

As of now, you are allowed to use HS Deck Tracker, HearthArena, Overwolf, and Innkeeper. This list is subject to receive additions to the tournament organizer's discretion.

Can I play through the tutorial on my new account before the Challenge begins? Can I level my classes?

You are allowed to complete the game’s tutorial and play all the classes to level 10 in Solo Adventure before the Challenge begins. However, you are not allowed to play any other game mode outside of Solo Adventure or start accumulating gold until Hallow’s End has officially started. Failure to abide by these prerequisites may invalidate your submission. You’ve been warned.

If I play Solo Adventure on my account before others, won't that give me an unfair head start on quests?

As long as you are only playing Solo Adventure, no. You must play in "Play Mode" to begin accumulating daily quests.

If a friend can play with me, does that mean we can each take shifts playing?

Although you are allowed to play with friends, this does not mean that they are allowed to play/stream for you. You must always be streaming & playing on your own account, otherwise your submission can be invalidated to the tournament organizer's discretion.

What if I earn gold while clearing the tutorial or while leveling my classes to 10? Will this count towards my score for the Challenge? Will I be disqualified?

Any gold that is earned in the process of the tutorial or leveling your classes to 10 before the challenge starts is allowed and will count towards your final gold count. Please refrain from going outside of the allowed boundaries for pre-Challenge play, as failure to abide may invalidate your submission.

Can I participate on this challenge on an account that I've used before? I've only played on one server, can I just participate on the other servers?

No. Your accounts needs to be a new account. That means you have not played Hearthstone on any server prior to the announcement of the Challenge. You can, however, level your classes up to 10 on a new account that you have created after the announcement of the Gold Rush, as long as you only play the tutorial and "Solo Adventure" mode.
